Unit 1 Part A

Who i am?

One years ago, one of my university essay required to discover 4 myself by johari window(Open self, blind self, hidden self and unknown self). In my view, it is one of the most meaningful and the biggest impact uni work in my university’s learning experience, but it is also a whole life topic. I am keeping discover the answer which is so complex that relative to the relationship with others and the value to the world.
There has few words should be the key of my character —– highly sensitive, curious, insecure, focus on the goal, aspirant, arrogance and I am a completist. My potential value of action might be ‘the best practice mold’
My completist lead to a highly standard and goal for my performance, while my insecure lead to scared to make any mistakes in my working, I am sensitive to others feeling and potential  threaten of relationship.  If without goals in my life, I would be very upset; if without planning and calendar in a project, I would be very nervous.   Sometime, I live in my own world and believe nobody could to understand me, I lack for the trust in people, it is the reason why my friends feel aspirant of mine.
I believe my personal character could to be improved, if I learn artistic world, because it could to improved the way of thinking, also could to  help people understand me better.
What did you choose for your artistic challenge and why?

In my career development plan, i would to be a CHO or a impressive trainer after 25 years, i good at organising people, in the past,  I showed the intelligent leadership at the Vice-chairperson of college’s travel club, our member recruitment’s resulting in recruitment of 60 members in a 300 students’ college.
As the same time, i have got a good background of my education and has good academic understating of management, for example, i knew that 4P’s  strategic,  Product, Price, Place and Promotion: who is the project aimed at;  What benefit will customers expect, where will the project will locate, how will artist promoted the project. These knowledge are quite basic and help to  put on a project you must analysis the needs and status of background.
But i will be able to develop ways of thinking creatively  and apply that to her business practice. and here i had the challenge to develop as an organization’s creatively trainer.
This is why i would like to extend my artistic practice,  there has main practical artistic skills should be improved.
1. Creative skills and ideation
2. Think in opposites and rethink skills
3.Painting skills and Drawing skills
4. basic art principles

What did you need to do to achieve it?

1.Attend training sessions
2. Practice diversity materials to paint and draw artwork.
3. Done a piece of designed glass artwork.
4. Plan, deliver, review and share the exhibition as my arts project leadership with the public.
5. Get involved in the arts world.
6.Attend and review arts events, studios and galley.
Who did you work with?
My major art award advisors come from Artifact (ne) comprise and the classroom location in Creative Cohesion, Lesley anne smith and Joe Robinson are two practitioners from two differing but concomitant areas of activity.
Lesley Anne Smith is an exerienced business manager and recent graduate in psychology, specialises in occupational psychology and creative development and learning within organisations. Lesley also specialises in dyslexia, autism and aspersers and working with artist building their own business, via business planning, mentoring and coaching sessions.  Lesley is a graduated in Psychology and Human Resource Management from the University of Sunderland and also a qualified lecturer in further and higher education.
Joe robinson is an arts professional with 30 years experience as an illustrator and artist, mainly based in London.  Joe is now Co Director of Artifact (NE) and is also a qualified lecturer in further and higher education, and advisor in all levels of the Arts Award.
Criss Chaney is an glass sculpture who has been developing a new technique where she combines glass and metals, exploiting techniques for working with both materials. She is currently treasurer for creatve cohesion as well as exhibiting internationally. (more information see part C )
In the planing of my sessions, firstly, I worked with Joe robinson at Ballery with Artifact (ne) around 9 weeks, then a session worked with  Criss to create a piece of glass artwork, one week with experienced comprise Lesley Smith who will teach me how to bring to bear arts project leadership into organisational training and relative business creatively thinking.
 What did you learn?
I learnt so much! Totally, i discovered a new world and improved my way of thinking,  the most inspiring things is i successful completed the session and get positive feedbacks.  I learn the how to done your create in the brain and how to put up your spiritual feeling or personal understating of the world, these could to improve my competition ability in the career development.
I learnt how to relax myself, then combin my spiritual with my painting skills to create artwork. I learnt create artwork by use different metrical and the impaction between them.

The Evdence of a public sharing

The mandala session is the major way for my public sharing, and i share the joy of drawing as well with visitors by to encourage they to draw mandala on the wall.

Unit 1 Part A the process of session:session 11

Date: 11/11/2011

At the session:
1. Lesley checked the sections in the Gold arts award, and ensure how to improve them. We did a appointment for the training and session for the lessons teaching.
2. Lesley explain how is the Creative Cohesion Charity running, what's the issues in the charity, how is the current finance status of organization and we talked more about the models of art organization running.
3. We discussed the design for  lesson and exhibition, also reviewed the action plan for the project.

comment:
After 11 weeks learning, possibly i haven't improved a lot in my painting skills or have the ability to creat a good quality art work. But, i am awareness the status and models of the art world and the creative industry. Due to the background of the europe economy, there haven't enough finance to support the developing of the creative industry, like as the creative cohesion be named as a charity, however it is not free for artists and tough running. After Joe showed me the beautiful of the art world, then Lesley showed me the current status in the art world, it touched my heart. when i was disputing there should be free for articles in the Charity, but not take 40% commission from their selling of artworks, I also be shocked the eclectic company require very experience deposit, but not reduce the charge.

All at once, i found i so idealism and puerile to look at the world, the paintings are beautiful, but the status is very cold. For these reason, i will use my business acknowledge to improve the business model for the Creative Cohesion.

Unit 1 Part A the process of session:session 10

Date: the first part of the session hold at  10am-2pm of 04/11/2011
the second part of the session hold at 10 am-2pm of  08/11/2011.

At the session:
The 10th session is my stain-glass and the medallions glass creating session with Criss, the reason for the session that I hope my artwork could not only are 2D works, but also has 3D works, as well as, i enjoying the lucency of the glass, the little balloon in the glass like as bring the live for the glass artwork.

1. Criss and i picked up one of zentangla's painting as the sample work for the stain-glass.

2. Firstly, we discussed how to divide up the pieces in the stain-glass, then we decided there would have 16 pieces glass to make of the stain-glass.

3. Criss showed me many different colours glass, through compare these colours together, then we discussed to use 4 different colours to make of the stain-glass.

4. Criss guided me to fill the glass cutter with oil which could creates a smoother score line.

5. I practiced to apply a moderate pressure as move the cutter from one edge of the glass to the other edge which followed the line Criss draw, and making score lines. Then, I practiced to bending and breaking by the pilers which are centered on the score lines.

6. The pen coped the shape from my sample work on the sunspace of glass, one by one and marked the code of them. Then made score lines and bended them. It is very difficultly for me to bend the glass, due to there has curve in the score line, I spent a all of power from my head to foot.

7. Criss helped me to wash the cut glass.

8.We mixed the glass frost, black power with water together, we wear respirator and rubber glove to avoid danger.

9. I copied and painted the shape from my sample work on the sunspace of glass, and use hard stick to rubbed the needless lines.

10. I done all the job for the cutting, bending and painted for these 14 pieces glass. Criss putted them in the oven to dry the painting.

Second part:

11. We compare the glass to the sample and mark the excrescent part, and I grind the glass to fit the sample one by one on the grinding machine , it spent more than one hour until it match the sample very well and there haven't big gap between each other.

12. Copper foil the glass on each edges and in tight curves avoid cracks in the foil cause of the high degree by soldering iron.

13. Use pencil to smooth out the the foil on the front, back and side, and put back all pieces of glass in order.

14. Criss taught me how to use the soldering iron and electrify it to be hot. I applied the flux on the glass, if without the flux, the solder might not stick to the foil.

15. I was putting the soldering iron on the tin and run it, then after seconds the settled tin jointed the glass together and I tried to have a smooth surface of the  Settled tin.  I soldered the both side and edge of the stained glass.

16. Wash and clear the surface.

17. A pieces of stained glass have been done.

I do enjoyed the session with Criss, the glass creating have clearly process and crafts, every step of the process could to effect the impression of the artwork.
Also, the talking with the american glass artist bring the interesting impression that she is unswerving in pursuit of her dream.

Unit 1 Part A the process of session:session 9

Date:28/10/2011 (I have a break week at 21/10/2011)

1. Joe and i reviewed all study work for the past three weeks and have new ideas for redesign

2. Under the guiding of Joe to my painting skills and basic art principles, i improved few pieces study work.

3. Through reading the art work i did,  I know myself better and cognize the different views.

4. Because of the different backgrounds of us, we have a very interesting debate about life drawing for naked body.

5. We chose one of the most impressively artworks and largen paint it in a big size paper. Joe taught me  to use overlay paper to fix attention on a part of artwork. Also, i learnt some technologies for largen praint, eg through printing, cutting and measure.

6. We have a brilliant chatting about artists how to decide what is a perfect painting should be created.

The result of art world difference with business world,  I always judge when is the ending for one business project by the result of a project or the judgement from others. But, Joe said, in the art world, only the feeling could to tell me when is the right moment to stop my brush, also spectators doesn't effect  what's the ideally painting should be, so it is a totally personally feeling about create a perfect painting.
The new mode of thinking also could to use in my life chosen.

Done the practice for largen the artwork in a new paper.

After session:
1.I visited the NGCA gallery for the second part of <the wonders of the invisible world> with Joe, i have got a lots interesting impressions and new inspirations. Reference 8.

2.I designed some examples for the stained glass and prepared my glass session.

3. I updated the Blogger and done the 5 week action plan for the exhibition, as wall as, improved the risk assessment of exhibition.

4. I decided use lost 'cat' as the name for exhibition. It has double means, firstly, the cat mean as my self, after graduated, i lost the state from a student  to a unemployed young, I lost the way to back 'home'.
Second, actually, I am looking for the inner self in the process of art learning, who deeply hided during the past years. so the art exhibition also is an new way to show others for the lost cat.

After session:
I am quite busy at this week for my part-time job and feeling upset, so I didn't done any good artwork.

Comment:
The review of the booklet is necessary and helpful for the next process, I am still very worrying about the exhibition, there have few reasons: 1.  I haven't a good topic to support exhibition. 2. I comment my artwork without confidence. 3. There has limited time before the exhibition. 4. The emotion effected my creative ability.

I am thirst for doing a short break trip, now. It could help me relax and have new inspiration.

My comment:
I keep working  the No.5 work, the exaggerated  and depressive  clouds could inspire spectator with imagination. It is a new art experience for doing the rubbing, it seem like as drip painting that you will never know what your did on the paper, the only thing you can do that image what your work like as after you done the rubbing and drip painting. As Joe said, the understanding of painting is a way to look at the inner yourself and to understand yourself better.

                                                                         They are dancing
My comment:
I seen a pieces of artwork at biscuit factory, which is made of mixed media and has few layers (see reference 4), the mixed media and distinct layers showed a naturally prospect it is unbelievable art work, like as i seen the veritable landscape and like as i heard the sounds of surf.   While the Joe explained the exhibition, i have more feeling about the exhibition shouldn't to offer pictures to spectator and see the surfacely things, but artist should to offer an artistic conception or a appropriate environment, where to help spectator to feel or to think.
I enjoyed painting the zentanla, it is a new way to communication with the 'really me', while i am developing the creativity by design every original flower pattern. I spend all the week to done he study work No7, it is cool, while i added the element which Joe and i adopted from other study works, an undone dots line cat. it means the unknow myself and wait to be explored.

                                                               Zentangla 2
                                                                         World n

                                                                   Love
                                                                           Cat

my comment:
I learnt a new model to view our world that thought our image and the inner myself. Eg, the colour has itself personality and put up the mood by artist.
I process the artwork by add more tiny things and details, so the painting has new soul which a part of me, who paid more attention at the minutia and completest. For the arts practice, I begin to used to painting and drawing, the zentangla is a new way to relax, as well as its diversity flower pattern showed the enchantment of arts.
