Amy's doodle: Unit 1 Part C: The research about Criss Chaney

Criss Chaney is my tutor of glass workshop, we will working whole day together. I have had a plan to study Glass at university of sunderland, but i gave up the plan, because i haven't any experience of Glass production , even art design. However, i didn't gave up to come into contact with glass production in the arts award. It's my honour to know Criss by the introduction of Lesley, she is an outstanding young artist.

Criss Chaney is a American, she was born in seattle, Washington and she moved to San Francisco o study at California college of the Arts, where she discovered the magic of molten glass. During 2004 to 2006, she was studying the Bachelor of Art in Glass, Architectural Glass and Ceramics at the university of sunderland in England. Then, she did the business mentoring at Creativitiworks from 2006 to 2009. From 2007 to 2008,She improved her arts leadership in the Graduates Learning Entrepreneurship Accelerated Through Mentoring (GLEAM) which is a n internationally respected business start-up ptogramme.It support her own business creating contemporary glass sculptures. She won a scholarship to go to Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, US, which offers a series of two and three week courses as well as residencies for emerging and established artists in all media. Pilchuck is one of most comprehensive educational center in the world for glass artists.

As we can see, Criss has a international education background, it influenced she has a plan that keep traveling world gaining inspiration, and working alongside world-class artists.

she has been developing a new technique where she combines glass and metals, exploiting techniques for working with both materials, her pieces make people question their views on glass and push the boundaries between glass and other media. Her objects always have interior and exterior space for the viewer to enjoy and interact with.

If the Glass artist is a part of Criss, doing charity is another part of her. She is currently the treasurer for Creative Cohesion, an arts charity where provide artists have a free studio space and business mentoring, while also working to raise money for Action Aid.

She also creates and organises the Glass course as a part of her income. Her See-Through Sand class casting classes coved clay sculpting, basic open facemoulds, rubber alginate moulds, lost wax and glass casting at Creative Cohesion, it attracted many beginners to learn the process.
